The Play Series
In 2016, LTA coaches Gemma Wiltshire & Sam Williamson saw a gap in the competition pathway for recreational level matches for players aged 5 upwards. They created the Play Series and held the first events at Wrecclesham Tennis Club, which had a successful launch with 19 Red ball players, 18 Orange ball players and 6 Green ball players during the February half term.
Following the successful launch, the Play Series run by Gemma Wiltshire, returned to Wrecclesham Tennis Club on Saturday 16th April 2016 with 12 Red ball players, 14 Orange ball players and 9 Green ball players. All the events are mixed with the girls competing with the boys in singles and doubles team matches.
Partnering with the LTA, pre-covid, 4 events were run every half term for all the youth stages and the popular skills challenge was included in all events. In 2018 we won the LTA Team Challenge Video competition, with our entry produced by Team Challenge yellow players Bill & Bob, who won a personalised Adidas kit each, from the LTA.
